Update! Our 4th Birthday party was a smashing success! Many, many thanks to everyone that made it possible: Troy and Sons, French Broad Food Coop, Heinzelmaanchen Brewery, Peter Parpan, DJ’s Champale and Abu Dissarray, Glo Babcock, the neighborhood businesses who donated to the raffle, Carrie-Welles Craven, and of course, Duncan, Jasper, Lucy, Hannah, Alexandra, Joel, Douggles, Dan, and Jess! We raised over $900 for the garden program at Hall Fletcher Elementary. Happy Mardi Gras, 2013 y’all!

September Wedding!

We loved baking these beautiful cakes for Rachel’s wedding yesterday at Claxton Farm. The bride and groom chose a two-tier Banana Split cake, with a cake buffet featuring Strawberry Short Street, Mexican Chocolate, and Triple Chocolate Ganache! We love the design elements they chose, like this natural topper and banner.

Heirloom Cocktail Recipe by Robyn Jasko

We had a lovely time last week at Robyn Jasko and Jennifer Biggs’ signing and reception for their book, Homesweet Homegrown: How to Grow, Make, and Store Food No Matter Where You Live. Robyn served up some awesome beet sangria, along with heirloom cocktails made from herbs and produce from my home garden, as well as lovely heirloom vegetables provided by Paper Crane Farm, preserves from Ashley English of Small Measure, and hearth bread from Smoke Signals Baking.
